New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Returning to Serve Cape May County’s Residents for another Year

Cape May Court House, NJ- On May 31, 2017 the New Jersey Department of Health received a letter of intent from the State Department of Health issuing another year of the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Grant. Cape May County Department of Health has proudly held the grant since 1996. The grant has given those who are uninsured and underinsured the opportunity to receive screenings for breast, colorectal, prostate, and cervical cancer.

Freeholder Jeff Pierson said, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to continue our efforts in serving our community in cancer prevention. New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection has given the Cape May County Department of Health the means to screen thousands of qualifying Cape May County residents.”

New Jersey State Department of Health has awarded the Cape May County Department of Health $168,607 for the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program, NJCEED, for the grant period of July1, 2017- June  30, 2018.

                                                                                                                                

The programs FREE Services Include:

Breast exam and mammogram referral

Pelvic exam and pap test

PSA blood test and prostate exam by urologist

Stool test for colorectal cancer 

All services are free to those who qualify.

 

New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection, NJCEED, program offers free colorectal, breast, cervical and prostate cancer screenings to uninsured or underinsured individuals. NJCEED is located at the Cape May Department of Health in the Crest Haven Complex in Cape May Court House at exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway.
