Police and Fire Training Center
Located in the Crest Haven Complex, the center serves as a training facility for police, fire, rescue personnel and 911 dispatchers from the State of New Jersey.
Recognizing the need for professional, well-trained police officers, the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in cooperation with the Cape May County Police Chief’s Association and the Cape May County Prosecutor, established the Police Academy in 1980.
The Police Academy received state certification for the Basic Course in 1987.
The Cape May County Police Academy offers over 3200 hours of basic and advanced police training courses each year, training approximately 1500 police officers. Low cost housing, reasonable tuition rates and a variety of courses make the Academy very attractive to police agencies. The facility is also equipped with a fire tower, a smoke house, burn building, and pit for Fire Fighter training.
The Academy is proud to be one of 27 Export Training Sites in the United States for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center located in Glynco, Georgia. This agreement with FLETC allows the Cape May County Police Academy to provide the latest in law enforcement education at no cost to agencies that participate.
