[ARCHIVED] Thornton Named 2015 Freeholder of the Year by New Jersey Association of Counties

Atlantic City, New Jersey – Cape May County Freeholder Director, Gerald M. Thornton received the Maurice Fitzgibbons Freeholder of the Year Award at the 65th Annual New Jersey Association of Counties Conference. The Conference was held at Caesar’s in Atlantic City and celebrates county government. This annual event brings together government officials and business leaders from all twenty one counties in New Jersey to share resources and ideas through seminars and networking forums.

The award is named after long-time Hudson County Freeholder and former NJAC President Maurice Fitzgibbons, who passed away in 2011. In announcing the recipient of the prestigious “Freeholder of the Year Award”, NJAC President and Mercer County Freeholder, Ann Cannon told attendees, “Jerry Thornton is an extraordinary gentleman, who is well deserving of this award for his leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to delivering essential services in a cost effective manner that has truly benefited county governments across the State.”

Thornton was surprised and deeply honored to receive the award from the New Jersey Association of County and his colleagues throughout New Jersey.
