The Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Program announces that it will be hosting Coffee Fridays for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren beginning February 2016. The first session will take place on Friday, February 26th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey 08210. The building is handicap accessible.
Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator and Director, said, “Coffee Fridays provide grandparents with a chance to meet with other grandparents in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. They can unwind over a cup of coffee while discussing issues and concerns related to raising their grandchildren.” Rochford added, “While most grandparents plan to spend time with their grandchildren, they don’t plan to raise them. Taking responsibility for a grandchild can raise many questions.”
Grandparents are invited to learn about some of the resources and support available to them, and to share their thoughts and concerns. There is no charge for this program, but please RSVP by calling 465-5115, ext. 609.
