[ARCHIVED] Rutgers Cooperative Extension Offers Workshop In Sept: History, Uses and Growing of Herbs

Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Agricultural and Resource Management Program is offering a new workshop in September in the 2016 Workshop Series, "Gardening by the Seasons." The History, Uses and Growing of Herbs Workshop will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., rain or shine, at Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Courthouse - South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

The guest presenter will be Jennifer Matthews, Owner, Stone Circle Farm. Participants will learn the historic importance of herbs, how to grow herbs in your garden, how to preserve herbs, and the culinary and home uses for herbs. Also, the program will include a tea tasting. Plus, participants will blend their own tea to take home.

"There are many uses for herbs and we are excited to include this program as part of our "Gardening by the Seasons" workshop series, said Jenny S. Carleo, Rutgers Agricultural and Resource Management Agent for Cape May County.

This is a beginner class, therefore, no experience is needed. The cost for this workshop is $20 and includes a lite supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6 p.m.. Registration is due by September 1, 2016. To register or for more information, please call 609-465-5115, ext.607 or email
