Cape May Court House – Register now for the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences’ (FCHS) 2017 Wellness Series workshop, “Healthy Holiday Eating,” taking place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator, said, “Food is as much a part of holiday celebrations as being with family and friends, therefore, the holiday season comes with the challenge of trying to make healthier choices when many holiday foods and traditions don't fit in that category.” Participants at this workshop will learn simple ways to eat healthy during the holidays, how to manage stress, that healthy can be tasty too, and quick, easy and healthy holiday recipes.
Rochford added, “Research shows that Americans typically gain 1 to 3 pounds, or even more, during the holidays. The concern is that most people don't lose that excess weight and it adds up potentially causing chronic health problems. So, making the effort to eat healthier during the holiday season can go a long way.”
The workshop will feature a healthy holiday meal cooking demonstration and the meal prepared will be served to participants for dinner. The cost of the workshop is $15 and advanced registration is required. Space is limited, so, please reserve your place early.
